The 2019 Lititz Farmers Market season got off to a sunny start on Thursday, May 16. The market was brimming with early season produce, meats, fresh seafood, eggs, hummus, salsas, gluten-free breads, baked goods, flowers, hanging baskets and so much more.
New offerings at this year’s market include the addition of revolving pop-up vendors and a downtown Lititz retailer spotlight stand.
Opening week’s featured pop-up was Salty Hog Creations offering a wide variety of air plants and macrame creations.
Prepared food vendor Lemongrass had hungry marketers lined-up for their Thai menu that included egg rolls, rice balls, fried rice and Masaman curry.
And perennial favorite food truck Baron Von Schwein was on hand serving up its robust, meaty menu.
lso new this year will be the regular appearance of resident market chef – Chef Nino – who will cook and and share samples of farm-fresh dishes created at the market. Many of the recipes highlight the market’s seasonal abundance and downtown Lititz culinary resources such as Olio Olive Oils and Baslamics, Savory Gourmet and Zest!
Musician Ian Carroll played an eclectic mix of acoustic music, sharing a basket of instruments that beckoned children to dance and play.
Lititz Farmers Market is open Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., May 16 through October 17. There is no market during the 4th of July week and market hours shift to a 7:30 p.m. closing time after Labor Day.
