Repost • @frontporchbakingco i shared this on my Repost • @frontporchbakingco i shared this on my story earlier but figured i’d post it here too! very grateful to have met @foodographer_jb in person via @fifthmonthfarm! He was kind enough to hang at the bakery for hours with me just talkin’ shop! It was nice to share on my journey and have it so thoughtfully shared for folks in Lancaster! Beyond being a business owner I feel my values are commitments I’ve made to myself but also anyone who comes in for our breads and pastries, It’s so important to me and I’m fortunate it means a lot to you all who support us in any capacity week after week.

I feel fortunate that Brenton and I have been able to work together as well! It was not intentional to have this be both of our incomes but so far we’ve been able to make it work, and after years of complete opposite schedules, it’s been really nice being together just about 24/7! We’ve figured out a healthy balance to it all. Also, having dinner together means a lot.
-
I am also beyond thankful to live in such a beautiful abundant place. Lancaster County is really something. Being able to source all of our flours and support local agriculture is really special to me. I always knew if I had the chance to have my own bakery that supporting local farms would be a priority.
-
But really what it all comes down to is the very last picture from my hs graduation 2009! The only reason I bake a single thing at all. Elsie, my nanny. My mom’s mom. I realized I’m constantly just striving to create a place that she would have wanted to walk into. She used to drive to a local mill for her flour to bake naturally leavened german rye bread every week. To which she was able to do just by intuition, consistently. Everything is wonderful about baking, but bread is very special to me. I like to think she would have loved my bakery if she saw it 💛

Thanks so much @jordanbushphoto and @lanccountymag for taking the time to share about my bakery story. It’s really appreciated!

Repost • @innaspierogishop Hello Pierogi Families! My name is Inna, owner Inna’s Pierogi Shop. I wanted to take a moment and thank each one of you for your continuous support and also share a piece of my journey.

Five years ago, I took the leap of faith and $4000 I had collected with Alex to start this small business. From the beginning of our journey we decided to stay debt free. So, what I made was all I had to spend or pay myself. Some months we took a paycheck home and some months we put away 💰 to purchase the next piece of equipment. And some months we went into the negative. We learned from lots of mistakes and some were pretty expensive 🙈. Fast forward to today: our business still continues the debt free journey, we have 11 team members and my husband quit his job to work full time at the pierogi shop. Was this an easy thing to do? The hardest thing was to stay debt free!

Do you want to open a debt free business?
One: start small and be scrappy
Two: create a spending plan and stick with it
Three: don’t let mistakes stop you from getting back up!

Every purchase matters to me, my family and my 11 team members. Thank you 🙏

It sure is lovely living in Lititz!
